In "The Rockpile", John and Roy do not always receive the same treatment from the adults in their family. Have you ever felt that you or someone else in your family was treated differently from everyone else? What caused the difference, and do you think it was fair? Explain.

Prompt Response: I sometimes felt that I have been treated differently because I am a boy and my siblings who live with me are girls. Obviously we are different and so sometimes we receive different treatment. But it is never unfair or weird, just different because we are different genders. Just like how bathrooms are separated, our treatment is separated like that sometimes.

Summary: We worked on the rockpile questions.

Reflection: I finished the rockpile questions that we started.

Prompt: In “Her Sweet Weight on My Heart a Night” by Emily Dickinson, the speaker describes the emotional weight another person can have on us. Think about someone who has left a lasting impact on your life. In what ways do you still carry that person with you?

Describe one thing that makes you different from other people.

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.
